🌊 Ecological Monitoring Program (1 Week)
Gain experience in reef surveys, coral and fish identification, and turtle monitoring while learning marine research methods.

FAQs
Blue Marlin Conservation is the environmental branch of Blue Marlin Dive Gili Air. We focus on marine research, coral restoration, and diver education through hands-on conservation programs ranging from one-day workshops to month-long internships.
For our one-day workshops you need to be a certified diver (PADI Open Water or equivelent) and for some of our longer courses you may need to be a more advanced diver (PADI Advanced Open Water or equivelent). This ensures you can safely participate in underwater data collection and monitoring.
If you’re not certified yet, you can complete your PADI Open Water course with us first.
If you need to complete your PADI Advanced Open Water course you can also complete that with us.
We offer:
- One-day courses: Coral Restoration, Shark Ecology, and Turtle Ecology
- Longer programs: Ecological Monitoring (1 week), Reef Assistant (2 weeks), and Marine Research Assistant (4 weeks)
- Conduct fish and coral surveys
- Identify and monitor sea turtles
- Assist with coral restoration projects
- Collect data for long-term reef health studies
- Learn sustainable diving and marine ecology techniques
Our conservation programs run year-round. Conditions in Gili Air are typically calm with good visibility most months. The dry season (May-October) offers the best diving conditions, while the wet season (November–April) is still suitable for diving and research.
