What Your Day Looks Like

Lecture & Workshop

Start your Sea Turtle Ecology and Monitoring course with an in-depth lecture from your Conservation Instructor and Marine Biologist, Aris. Learn about turtle evolution, migration, and ecological importance. You’ll learn how to identify species based on key features, understand their threats, and explore how data from photo ID helps track individual turtles over time.

Before diving, you’ll learn to use ID photography techniques, estimate turtle sizes, and document behavioral observations. We’ll practice with real datasets and explore how your data contributes to long-term turtle monitoring in the region.

Duration: 1-2 Hours

Dive

Time to dive and find those sharks!

You will dive in a known shark habitat, applying theory by identifying shark species, documenting sightings, and observing natural behavior in real time. You might also see threats to these sharks, such as human impacts like fishing lines and irresponsible diving. It’s an unforgettable experience that blends science, adventure, and conservation impact.

When you return from the dive, you will review the photos you took and input data into the local shark monitoring program.
